《百万英镑》英文读后感 (一)
Based on Mark Twains novel, The Millionaire Pound Note takes an interesting satirical look at the hypocrisy stemming from class distinction in the 50s England. England is a country where class and wealth are given extreme significance, especially among the rich.
The film shows the hypocrisy that existed among these people, how the rich are quick to change face when in an instant they find out that youre a man of wealth and how within the next moment they revert back to their condescending selves when all wealth is lost. Interestingly, The Millionaire also briefly looks at how the English perceived Americans in that era. Rich Americans were weled as outsiders and the poor were quickly shunned away. The fact that hes an outsider either makes him more appealing or the plete opposite.
The story sticks to the main theme by emphasizing on the hypocrisy of the upper class society but at the same time it also creates a balance that prevents the movie from being a mockery of the British society. The movie drags at some point but the love story appears at the right time and there is plenty of edy to keep one entertained. A charming Gregory Peck totally nails the part and the luminous Jane Griffiths is a treat. Reginald Beckwith, as Pecks sidekick Rock is amusing. The ending is a little predictable but the director does an overall good job by rounding it up and presenting his points.

《百万英镑》英文读后感 (四)
I knew Mark Twain when i was a middle school student. In my memory, there is an article in my English textbook that written by him. At that time, I pay no attention to Mark Twain. However, i knew more about him after I learned the History and Anthology of American Literature, he appeals to me dearly and deeply. As a result, I read a part of his novels in part time. Here I will introduce Million Pounds to you. Before that, I will give some information about Mark Twain to you. And last, it es my though.
Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910) was an American humorist, satirist, lecturer and writer, better known by the pen name Mark Twain. He was born in Florida, Missouri and brought up in Hannibal, Missouri. After his fathers death in 1847, he was apprenticed to a printer and wrote for his brothers newspaper. He later worked as a licensed Mississippi river-boat pilot. The Civil War put an end to the steamboat traffic and Clemens moved to Virginia City, where he edited the Territorial Enterprise. On February 3, 1863, Mark Twain was born when Clemens signed a humorous travel account with that pseudonym. He often uses exaggerated ways to show his irony.
Mark Twain is most noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. He is also known for his quotations. During his life, Clemens became a friend to presidents, artists, leading industrialists and European royalty. For I love the One Million Pounds Note best, I would introduce it to you.
Is there real free-lunch in the world? Maybe there is! And such kind of “free lunch” strikes the poor and honest young man Henry Adams who has surprisingly got a one-million bank note from the brothers (Roderick &;; Oliver)。 As a matter of fact, the brothers had made a bet, if a poor, honest and clever people who e knocking on the door received the one million pounds, what will be happening to his life? The elder brother think that he would starve to death because he could not prove that the money belongs to him, will be arousing others’ suspicion, and even the banks do not let him deposit the money. On the contrary, the younger brother believes that he would live in a very good life. So the brothers lend the one million pounds to Henry Adams, and spent 30 days abroad. From then on, Henry Adams bees a bright focus of the money-priority society. Later, the lucky young man experiences two sharply different treatments in the tailor shop. In the ball, people from every social class try every
chance to show their friendship and flattery to the new millionaire. Adams never has the chance to spend a penny because no one can change the million and he is soon living in a luxurious hotel suite, wearing expensive suits. No one asks him to pay bill, these are forwarded for later payment. He even gets the chance to go to the Party that held by Duke. Fortunately, Henry meets Jane Griffiths and fall in love with this beautiful woman. He also es across his good friend. Out of his expectation, his girlfriend is the daughter of one of the brothers. And finally he got a very good job from the brother. And he lived a very happy life.
Mark Twains short story of "one million pounds note" is a very good work. The article satires the thoughts of "money is everything," "money is omnipotent," and expose the ugly face of capitalist society. As we all know, the root of the story was the bet of the brothers. What is the bet actually? Where does the attraction of the bank note lie in?
As far as i am concerned, the One Million Pounds Note takes an interesting, satirical look at the hypocrisy stemming from class distinction in England. England is a country where class and wealth are given extreme significance, especially among the rich. The novel shows the hypocrisy that existed among these people, how the rich are quick to change face when they find out that youre a man of wealth and how within the next moment they revert back to their condescending selves when all wealth is lost. The love story appears at the right time and there is plenty of edy to keep one entertained. The ending is a little predictable but the director does an overall good job by rounding it up and presenting his points.
In my heart, Herry was so luckily, not everyone can get the chance to use the million. I am so envious of the "lucky" of the heroine, but at the same time I would like to think that the reason why people carry favor with him is just that they attract too much important to money, isn’t it? Money worship is shameful and should not be reaping more! Money is not omnipotent, and in the world, there are many things that more important than money ……
《百万英镑》英文读后感 (五)
"A Million Pounds" was written in 1893, is the famous American writer Mark Twains novella, the author uses comic pen to outline different characters in front of a million pounds of all kinds of ugly, humorous, like a state of the world satire painting, vivid performance of the ordinary people see and hear, can not help but laugh. After reading each chapter, it is always tempting to speculate about the fate of the protagonist.
The novel has an obvious theme of criticizing the worship of money, and the author also exposes various ridiculous phenomena existing in the British society at that time. Other critics believe that although "Million Pounds" is only 20,000 words, but the author will be up to the nobility, down to the poor people, in the face of money depicted vividly; The pollution of money on capitalist society and even the distortion of human nature are sketched in three points, telling us that money is only a small part of our life, and most of the rest is our pursuit and desire for life.

《百万英镑》英文读后感 (七)
The author of "Million Pounds", Mark Twain, whose real name was Samuel Langham Clemens, was an outstanding American writer, famous journalist and humorist. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which we have read, is his masterpiece.
"Million Pounds" mainly tells the story of a pair of betting brothers, lend honest and trustworthy "me" a million pounds, make "me" become a well-known person, but also let "me" have a home.
When "I" was dressed in rags and took the million pounds to buy clothes, the clerk chose "the worst of a bunch of unwanted clothes and gave it to me," but when the clerk saw "my" million pounds, his "smile fell into such a dilemma and remained the same." ..." The boss personally measures the clothes for "me" and is willing to wait "indefinitely" for payment. No matter where "I" go to buy something, everyone is willing to give credit. From here I can see the money worship of the Western countries at that time, they respect the rich people, contempt for the poor.
Mark Twain used humor and satire to show the corruption of the society at that time. I think this article also reveals the voice of many poor people: want to get rich!
《百万英镑》英文读后感 (八)
After reading the book "Million Pounds", I felt a lot. This book tells the story of a man who accidentally got a million pounds and then went from being a beggar to being respected by everyone.
The author of this book is very humorous, the beggar got a million pounds, because two people bet to see if the man became rich, one month, without spending a penny can survive. As a result, the man went from being a pain in the ass to now everyone wants to curry favor with him. He went to the restaurant to eat, did not wait for money, the boss wanted to give this hotel to him, to buy clothes, because he could not find money, the boss sent him a lot of clothes, he went to the hotel, overnight fire.
Within a month, the man was on an equal footing with the royal family, and even many earls respected him. As a result, a month later, the man lived without spending a penny.
After reading this book, I understand how many people in the world are sophisticated and smooth, if not, then why that person used to be respected by people and now is respected by people, so I hope that there will be no more such people in the world, after all, there are more people with a sense of justice in the world.
《百万英镑》英文读后感 (九)
In this summer vacation, I watched Mark? A Million Pounds by Twain.
This book tells the story of a poor, honest man, who is the protagonist of the story, Henry? Adams. He received a letter from his brothers, which gave him a million pounds. It turned out that the brothers had made a bet on what would happen if a poor and honest man received a bill of one million pounds. The elder brother thought he would starve to death, the younger brother thought he would live well. So the brother gave the money to the poor man. As a result, he used the money to make a good living, had a real one million pounds of his own, and won the love of a beautiful lady!
Seeing this, I was very envious of this "lucky" protagonist, but at the same time I thought: "The reason why people please him is because people see this million pounds in his hand." So it can be seen that people attach too much importance to money
The author Mark Twain used slightly exaggerated techniques to describe the image of the capitalist society peoples worship of money!
《百万英镑》英文读后感 (十)
This summer vacation, my father bought me a book called "Million pounds", I thought at that time, the book is called "million pounds", which should tell all the stories related to money. After a closer look, I found that the book is the American writer Mark. A collection of Twains works, this book contains several short stories, "Million Pounds" is only one of them.
Mark Twain was a compassionate and righteous writer who excelled at humor and satire. His works are full of distinctive American characteristics, the content is vivid and fascinating.
I read the story "Million Pounds" first. It is about a young man who arrived in London in rags, and a pair of brothers made a bet with someone, so they gave the young man a million pounds. Later, when he bought something, he gave out a million pounds, and everyone was amazed. The young man became very rich in later life, and was invited by the envoy to a banquet.
This book has taught me not to trust the word of others just because you are in trouble. To be a self-respecting, self-loving, self-reliant person.
